NJSA Staffing Brand Awareness Campaign

Did you know that NJSA has embarked on a staffing brand awareness campaign with NJ Advance Media to increase the awareness of the value of staffing firms in New Jersey and the region?  The campaign, launched in March, provides both customers and clients with information on how to work with a staffing firm and generate employment success.  NJSA is a featured advertiser in the Career section of NJ Advance Media newspapers and online. 


Additionally, the NJSA LinkedIn Group has grown 62% since the end of 2014.  Over 1400 staffing professionals are linked-in to the NJSA group, so join the group!  We are also looking for content that will help members with their business challenges

 Contingent Workforce Report

More than 40% of the 2010 U.S. workforce consisted of "contingent workers" as reported by theU.S. Government Accountability Office. The GAO report included agency temps, contract company workers, day laborers, direct-hire temps, independent contractors, on-call workers, self-employed workers, and standard part-time workers. Temporary help employment accounted for only 1.5% to 2% of jobs.

According to GAO, so-called core contingent workers are more likely to be younger, Hispanic, have low household incomes, and are less likely to have a high school diploma. They are more likely to experience job instability and be less satisfied with their benefits and employment arrangements. GAO also concluded that their employment arrangements may afford fewer worker protections and cause greater reliance on public assistance. 


Jobless Claims in U.S. Fall Over Past Month to 15-Year Low


The number of people applying for unemployment benefits in the week ended May 16 rose by 10,000 to 274,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The 51 economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast claims of 270,000. The four-week moving average of new claims fell by 5,500 to 266,250, a 15-year low.
