New Jersey's Legislature Moves Closer to Passing a $15 Minimum Wage Bill
Last week the final Senate Committee forwarded the Democratic leadership's Minimum Wage Increase proposal to the Senate for a final vote.  The Assembly has already passed this bill (S-15/A-15).

Once the Senate votes for the bill, it will be sent to the Governor's office for his review and either approval or veto.
What the bill proposes:
  • Increases the state's minimum wage to $10.10 on January 1, 2017 (a 20.5% increase above the current $8.38 level).  The minimum wage will then increase annually by $1.25 for the next four years when the minimum wage will then exceed $15.  NJ's minimum wage will still be subject to annual increases due to changes in the Consumer Price Index.
The Legislative Leaders have already announced their plans to put the minimum wage increase on the 2017 ballot if Governor Christie vetoes this measure.

NJSA and New Jersey's business community have expressed their concerns regarding the adverse impact this legislation will have on prospects for business growth and competitiveness in New Jersey
