    MEMBERS ONLY PROGRAM

NJSA's Members-Only Staffing University is a series of workshop presentations will focus on the operational issues that challenge all staffing firms but yet impact your ability to be successful. These presentations are designed to provide important information in a concise, flexible and timely manner – to make best use of your staff’s time and talents. The sessions will be two hours in length with a top-notch speaker followed by an opportunity to network with your peers.

The April 11th workshop will focus on immigration issues for staffing companies.  In 2018 alone, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued nearly 10,000 Notice of Inspections investigating I-9 Compliance, many of which were served on staffing companies. Given the volume of new hires for staffing companies, they are uniquely exposed to significant I-9 fines; therefore, it is critical to be up to speed with issues arising in I-9 investigations of staffing companies, including proper and timely completion of the forms, reverification for expiring work authorizations, remote hires and electronic I-9 systems. This session will review the most common areas of liability for staffing firms and how to avoid them.

Our Speaker: Helen L. Conrad, McCandlish Holton

Helen is a director in the Immigration Practice group of McCandlish Holton, P.C. in Richmond, Virginia. She concentrates her practice on employment-based and professional immigration, with emphasis on:

    • I-9 compliance
    • E-Verify
    • H-1B Visas for high-tech and professional personnel
    • Multi-national Manager and Executive Visas and Green Cards
    • PERM green cards
    • National Interest Waivers
    • Outstanding researcher/professor immigration issues University-based immigration for students, researchers and professors
    • Visas for teachers in public and private schools

Helen has guided numerous clients through I-9 and Department of Labor and Office of Special Counsel audits and investigations. She provides comprehensive I-9 and E-Verify training to HR professionals. She also publishes immigration updates for national trade organizations on I-9 compliance and E-Verify and provides critical expertise in this complex area.
