Each day you work hard to be successful and build a great staffing business… providing positive long-term employment opportunities for your own staff and your candidates/ applicants.
And each year our state legislature and government in Trenton attempts to impose new laws and regulations that prevent our ability to succeed and have a future.
This year we have again been challenged… and continue to face the following challenges to our industry:
- A mandated health care tax on employers in New Jersey that will affect our state’s growth and ability to compete and therefore our industry’s capacity to grow,
- The real threat of a sales tax on temporary staffing sales and other professional service fees,
- A proposed bill targeting specifically and only the temporary staffing industry that would have made wage violations a civil action subject to punitive damages – a boon to trial lawyers chasing fees – instead of the current administrative proceedings under the NJ Department of Labor, and
- A proposed bill that would have extended liability for temporary staffing firms for injuries that happen while our employees are going to or from work.
The list goes on and on… We must insure that Assemblymen, Senators, Commission Directors, and Department Commissioners understand our industry and give both the temporary staffing and direct hire industry the respect and value we deserve.
We need your support! In order for us to have the opportunity to engage in a productive conversation with our state Assemblymen and Senators we must have a strong state-focused political action committee so that our industry can get the same attention as other competing influences with their own political action committees are getting!
